Basic Cardiac Rhythms
Course Fee $350.00 - HST & Manual Included
2024-2025 DATES
Don’t know what the bumps and squiggles on the monitor mean? Come learn from us. We make understanding basic cardiac rhythms easy. In this course, you will learn what each component of the rhythm is. Our review of the pathophysiology helps you gain an understanding of what is occurring in the heart as it presents on the monitor. We take a step-by-step approach, building consecutively on the knowledge you master. Our small class model allows us the flexibility to focus on the areas you need help the most. Unique to our class is a real time monitor practice session to ensure you are able to apply the knowledge gained to successfully interpret a monitor tracing when you return to your clinical area.

Introduction to 12 Lead ECG INTERPRETATION
Course Fee - $350.00 - HST and Manual Included
This course will build on your knowledge of Basic Cardiac Rhythms and take the next step in understanding cardiac monitoring. We believe you need to understand the information and be able to apply it for a course to be valuable for you. With this in mind, we have structured our ECG courses to include lots of practice with ECG interpretation. We teach you to understand what is happening in the heart that produces what you see on the ECG. Our basic ECG interpretation will teach you how to perform an ECG and how to spot when lead placement is incorrect. We teach you indications for performing and how to perform a 12, 15 and right sided ECG. We teach you to apply a sequential method for ECG interpretation while focusing on building an understanding of what is occurring in the heart that produces the waveform. A simple method for identifying ECG axis is presented.
Monday & Tuesday December 16th & 17th - 9am
Thursday & Friday January 23rd & 24th - 9am
Thursday & Friday February 6th & 7th - 9am
Wednesday & Thursday March 5th & 6th - 9am
ECG INTERPRETATION-ADVANCED
Are you proficient in reading ECG’s? Are you looking to build on your existing skillset? Then this is the course for you. In our advanced ECG interpretation, we teach you to identify atrial and ventricular hypertrophy. We teach how to identify critical ECG patterns such as Wellen’s and Brugada. Pre-excitation patterns such as Wolff-Parkinson White and Long Ganong-Levine are identified. An alternative lead placement technique which can help to identify when wide complex tachycardia originates from an atrial cause is presented. Effects of electrolyte abnormalities on the ECG are presented. Common differences seen in pediatric & Dextrocardia ECG’s are reviewed. Our small class size affords opportunity to ask questions and practice your refined ECG interpretation skills.

MEDICATION EFFECTS ON ECG'S
Many medications alter the action potential cycle of cardiac cells. Are you familiar with recognizing the potential risk for your patient? If not, take your nursing practice to the next level of safety. We present key information on commonly used medications which could alter cardiac conduction. Case studies are used to enhance your ability to critically apply your knowledge to bedside care using interactive audience response technology.
